Why are the Chinese afraid of the number 4

If you come to China, you will surely be surprised that the building does not have a fourth floor. And after the third comes the fifth. And the reason for this is superstition.

Why did it happen?

The fact is that in China the number 4 sounds like Sì (四). It is similar to the word for death, which sounds like Sǐwáng (死亡). And so most Chinese prefer to avoid this figure. And they do it in different ways.

Do the Chinese not use this number at all?

For example, in China there is no number 4 on car numbers. Weddings are not played on the 4th of every month. And also in China you will not find a single hospital bed number 4.

Although now the trend is changing a little, anyway, most Chinese believe that the number 4 has bad energy, and therefore prefer not to meet it in their lives.
