Which Chinese to learn: Simplified or Traditional
The Chinese language has two main forms of writing: Simplified and Traditional. And beginners often do not know which one to study.
Traditional Chinese
This is an older and more beautiful form of writing using more complex characters. It is used in Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, as well as in northern Chinese areas, national minorities, and in religious texts.
Simplified Chinese
It is the official form of writing in China and was created in the 1950s to simplify Chinese characters and facilitate literacy. The main distinguishing feature of Simplified Chinese is the use of simpler and easier to remember characters. Today, this form of Chinese is spoken throughout the world and most of China.
