Why is Chinese called Mandarin

You must have heard that Chinese is also called the Mandarin language. Is it really related to this fruit?

The term mandarin comes from the Portuguese word mandarim, which means official. And officials in China then had a huge influence and their own language for communication. Here the merchants from Portugal decided to call their language Mandarin, and then it became generally accepted in almost all of China.

Now you know that the Chinese language is not related to the mandarin fruit, but is related to the Portuguese consonant word meaning official. Therefore, a more accurate explanation would sound like the language of officials.
