You must have heard that Chinese is also called the Mandarin language. Is it really related to this fruit?

Is every Chinese tangerine?

Let's start with the fact that China is a huge country with a very rich history and culture. And there are several dialects in Chinese, but the most common one (which we all learn) is Mandarin. But this still does not explain why it is tangerine.

Where did tangerines come from then?

The term mandarin comes from the Portuguese word mandarim, which means official. And officials in China then had a huge influence and their own language for communication. Here the merchants from Portugal decided to call their language Mandarin, and then it became generally accepted in almost all of China.

Now you know that the Chinese language is not related to the mandarin fruit, but is related to the Portuguese consonant word meaning official. Therefore, a more accurate explanation would sound like the language of officials.
